 23-25th of December, 1m+ of new snow fell on the divide, tapering off to around 20cm at 1700m. This had continued strong northwest winds throughout the storm, forming potentially deep drifts on lee aspects. Any new snow will likely have fallen over a very firm, icy spring snowpack. We can expect any new snow to settle rapidly and an active round of loose wet avalanches to have taken place out of steep terrain on all aspects and elevations as temperatures started to rise over the weekend. Generally, spring snowpack conditions have formed a mostly consolidated snowpack.
