Central Hokkaido — Avalanche Forecast
The avalanche season has not yet finished. Early spring in Hokkaido is a dangerous time to be in the mountains. Warmer temperatures and sunshine creates slab problems. Large temperature swings between warm and cold weather creates a weaker snowpack. As temperatures warm up wet snow avalanches will become a greater problem as well. Plenty of recent avalanches around the region have shown it is a dangerous time to be in the mountains. Now is not the time to relax. Err on the side of caution. The mountains will always be around. Return home safely so you can enjoy being in the mountains again.
