Forecast Snow Stability: Snow surface layers will soften, especially where exposed to direct sunlight. The vast majority of snow will be generally well bonded. Minor surface wet snow instability will be displayed by recent deposits in steeper wind sheltered locations on North through East to South-East aspects above 1000 metres. Collapsing cornice remnants on these aspects will provide the greatest hazard in the very mild conditions. The avalanche hazard will be Low.
Forecast Weather Influences: No precipitation has been forecast. Strong South-East or South-South-Easterly winds. Freezing level rising up to 2750 metres during the evening with the air temperature gradually rising to reach plus 8 degrees Centigrade at 900 metres by Tuesday afternoon. Observed Weather Influences: No precipitation. Moderate Westerly winds, backing and increasing to become strong Southerly. Freezing level rising to around 1000 metres. ObservedSnowStability: Recent windslab accumulations are consolidating with the vast majority becoming generally well bonded. Moderately bonded windslab persists in the deeper accumulations that can be found in steeper wind sheltered locations on North through East to South-East aspects above 1000 metres. The avalanche hazard is Moderate.
